La idea de pintar este cuadro surgió del concurso Certamen Nacional de Pintura Fundación CRUZCAMPO “Ciudad de Calahorra”. El tema de las obras gira en torno al ámbito de la hostelería, en cualquiera de sus diversos aspectos. Buscando ideas, una soleada mañana de otoño fui al museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao y las instantáneas sacadas en la terraza me sirvieron de inspiración para pintar este cuadro. En los primeros bocetos se veían más las dos figuras, pero el tema no era el retrato sino la hostelería, así que fui acercando el plano hasta quedarme con esta composición en la que destaca la mesita con las bebidas. Aunque por diversos avatares no pude presentarme al concurso, éste fue el resultado.

The idea of painting this picture came from the National Painting Contest contest CRUZCAMPO Foundation City of Calahorra. The theme of the work revolves around the field of hospitality in any of its various aspects. Looking for ideas, a sunny autumn morning I went to the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and snapshots taken on the terrace inspired me to paint this picture. In the first sketches were more than two figures, but the issue was not the picture but the hotel, so I approached the plane to stay with this composition in which he outlines the table with drinks. Although various avatars could not introduce the contest, this was the result.
